What is the Sonas Practical Skills Day?
The Sonas Practical Skills Day is a vital part of a new quality mark for the Sonas Programme which will require Sonas Practitioners to hold a Sonas Licence.
Who is it for?
Attendance is open to anyone who has completed the Sonas workshop since 2002. On completion of this workshop, the Sonas practitioner will be quality-approved as a Sonas Licensed Practitioner.

Key areas covered will include the use of body language, ability to be congruent and, at all times, the promotion of agency and wellbeing for the person with Dementia. Also, the day will provide the current Sonas Practitioner with skills to meet the Sonas Quality Standards (SQS) and certification as a Sonas Licensed Practitioner(SLP).
Practical Skills Training Days
Sonas Practical Skills Days’ will be scheduled regularly over the next two years to enable currently trained Sonas practitioners to become licenced. For those Sonas practitioners who have been trained more than 10 years ago, attendance at the full 3-day course is required to update skills in line with the new Sonas Quality Standards.
What is the cost?
Practical Skills Day Attendance/Sonas Licence Fee €100.
All licensed practitioners are required to attend an annual SLP Practice Development Day to maintain and renew their Sonas Licence. An official updated licence is issued on completion of one day up-skilling training.
